10 October 2017

Revolutionary greetings

The Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) is pleased to announced that it has been voted the Workers Union of the year for 2017 by the South African Construction Awards (SACA). The annual award ceremony was held this past weekend, 07 October 2017, at the Sun International Hotel in Sun City, North West.

Nominated under the best workers’ union of the year for 2017, our union was voted and recognized as the union of choice by a panel of 10 well respected and reputable judges who stem from complementary backgrounds.

AMCU extends its appreciation to SACA, individuals and corporations that sponsored the awards and its various categories. We are honoured by the recognition and we look forward to more years of servicing our members, who make us great.

Other unions that were nominated alongside us were the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA), Building Construction and Allied Workers Union (BCAWU) and the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM).

AMCU President Joseph Mathunjwa nominated as construction industry leader of the year

President Joseph Mathunjwa was also nominated at the awards under the construction industry leader of the year category, and although he didn’t win, AMCU feels privileged to be led by a leader like President Mathunjwa.

We salute the leaders who were nominated under the same categories: Thabo Masombuka CEO at CSCC, Sisa Ngebulana founder and CEO of the Billion Group, Herbert Msagala of the Transnet Capital Project and Webster Mfebe SAFCEC.
