AMCU has been mentioned by Jacaranda FM in a news story that covered the 11th commemoration of the Marikana Massacre.

In the story, several parties, including Amnesty International South Africa and the Socio-Economic Rights Institute of South Africa (SERI), lament the lack of accountability from the South African government over the 44 deaths that occurred during the Marikana Massacre in 2012.
